14th Memory [Accidental Voice/Action]

[Hello, Luceti. Are you having a good Monday? Good. Goooood. Then you won't mind the sudden cry of surprise from the journal, will you? There's shuffle and a few huffs from running. This is because Sayo is hiding under a tree, gripping the trunk for dear life.]

The sky!! There's something wrong with the sky!

It's—it's melting!!

[... Yes, you can hear the the rain falling. If you want an action thread, you'll find Sayo clinging in terror to a tree, crouched low with her eyes closed, shaking in her kimono. Because she's never seen anything like this, and it's a little terrifying. She just wanted to speak to the wind spirit, and this happens? Is it another experiment? Is Luceti breaking? She presses her forehead into the bark and squares her shoulders at the sounds. A-ah, it's starting to fall through the trees. Oh gods, oh no!

Way later, she goes to work. Soaked to the bone. Fucking rain. 8'D

More-than-likely, she'll end up doing to the clothes store later, so one may find her there as well, staring blankly at a rack full of sundresses and blouses. Which is a very peculiar experience for a woman from a more feudal Japan. Sayo may not have much in the way of memories, but she does have her idea of appropriate attire intact. And this...]

... This is a little... revealing... I think...

[She picks up a noodle-strap top and furrows her brow; very (unsure) about this, man.]

Rain is precipitation that has melted after it has fallen a certain distance from cloud level. It's liquid water, unlike other kinds of precipitation, like sleet, hail or snow.

[He pauses.] Do... do you know what clouds are, Ms. Sayo? If not, I would be happy to explain them to you.

Also, you might want to find somewhere drier to stay, though the rain is entirely harmless... do you need assistance, or are you alright where you are?

Yes, those are clouds. They are made of... [Robert pauses a moment, searching for layperson's terms...] ... very small water droplets or ice crystals that form around floating particles, like dust, or pollen from plants. They are very high in the air, too high for most water to stay liquid. Occasionally, a cloud's interior becomes unstable and the ice or water inside falls to the ground, and then you have precipitation like rain. It is an important part of the weather and climate cycles. Though Luceti may be different because it is controlled by the Malnosso...

I am glad that you have somewhere dry to stay, though. While rain is harmless, being soaked is rather unpleasant.

Essentially, yes, because the water is so small and light that it can stay suspended in the air. Water gets up there in the first place by a process called evaporation, where liquid water is converted into a gas - water vapour - upon being exposed to a source of heat, like that from a sun.

It's... an oversimplification of the processes involved, but that more or less describes it.

[He offers a reassuring smile to the figure of the woman pressed against the tree trunk cautiously.] Perhaps once the rain stops, you may be lucky enough to see a phenomenon referred to as a rainbow... well, that's assuming you don't know what one is. But rainbows are quite a pleasant sight to behold.

Perhaps I could show you holophotography of things some day, Ms. Sayo...

They often do, but you can make one yourself by shining white light through something called a prism. A rainbow happens because light is scattered through raindrops in the same way as it would be through a prism.

There is a long explanation for that but I would not wish to bore you, Ms. Sayo...

As for how a rainbow looks itself - it is an arc, composed of seven colours - red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple, in that order. It isn't a solid object - it is simply an optical phenomenon, something you can see but not touch - but it is very beautiful.

If I ever come across a rainbow in my time here in Luceti, I will be sure to take a holophotograph of it for you, Ms. Sayo.

Besides, it would be something nice to take in general. [And Robert beams a bit.]

Ah... Certainly, Ms. Sayo. My apologies for not explaining.

A holophotograph is a three-dimensional image taken by special three-dimensional cameras present in most nanocomputers. Basically, it's a picture, but... a three-dimensional picture. Meaning it can be seen as a solid object, essentially. Though the holophotograph is not solid...

[Awkwardly:] It may be easiest for you to see it yourself.

I would love to, Ms. Sayo.

Incidentally, was there anything else you needed any assistance with, or are you certain that you are alright as of present? After all, it would not be too much trouble for me to assist you.

[Ethics will not allow Robert to leave Sayo in a bad situation if he can help her. Besides, he really does genuinely like her.]
