28th Memory [Video/Action]

Ah! It's on—let's see—

[The camera jiggles on the journal a bit as she sets it down. The first thing people'll notice about this picture? She's in a room packed full with stacked things. Kimonos, blankets, quilts, all sorts of things with all sorts of patterns, all neatly piled in square mounds as tall as her. It's quite a sight, but mainly an example of how having entire nights to yourself to weave and sew turn into a hoarder's problem for someone like her.

She's all smiles, of course!]

Um, hello, Luceti! I noticed we had a large group of New Feathers just arriving, and my spare room was getting quite full, so I was wondering if you, um, needed or wanted any kimono or blankets, anything like that! I've had a blast making these... 'quilt' things, but I'm afraid I'm running out of room, so I'll need to clear it out soon.

They'll all be at the Item Shop if you want them, but if you have anything in particular you're looking for, I can see if I have it just for you. Here's one of the blankets I've done... Oh, this one will do nicely—

[After her entry and replies, she'll be oooffff to work! And then she'll be carrying super-tall piles of things from her apartment to the item shop. Yeah. Wish her luck. She's already winded by the 10th trip. And possibly half-toppling over. SHE DID NOT EXPECT THIS EFFORT.

It looks like you've been very busy, indeed.

Oh, all night every night! If I don't work on something, I feel far too idle.

Oh, I understand. I had no idea you were keeping so many crafts in that other room...

It's pretty silly, isn't it? I suppose I should have noticed the stacks growing; it felt like just a few weeks before I turned around and there they were!

... I don't suppose you have any need for blankets, do you?

I wouldn't mind taking a look and seeing if one catches my eye. Sometimes those kinds of stacks can just sneak up on you. That happened to me with paintings, once... one day, I had a burst of creativity, and suddenly they were all over the place. I still have quite a few left.

Oh?? You enjoy painting a lot, Raine-san? I'm afraid I'm not very good at drawing myself, but I love to hear about works people've been doing around here!

Some of my friends though that I should take it up as a hobby while here. It can be very relaxing, if I allow it to be.

Mm, that's how I feel about weaving, especially when you start getting a pattern going. I suppose some would probably consider it boring, but seeing something develop out of a few little things is so interesting...

It doesn't matter what other people think of the activity itself. It's something that makes you happy while doing it -- that's the part that matters. Not to mention that as a bonus, you're willing to share the results of your endeavors with other people.

Sharing the results and giving them to people is always the best part for me, I think. It's nice to know the things you make are being used by someone you care about...

Indeed. Especially since it's clear that it's something that comes from the heart, with you.

[a nod] Do you think I could look at your paintings sometime, Raine-san?

Of course you may. I'd be glad to show them to you.

[HECK YES, raine art museum time] Wonderful! And in return, I'll give you something from my room; anything you want, really, since I'm trying to get rid of some things. If you want anything.

Oh, that's really pretty! Are all the blankets that pretty?

Oh, why thank you! I'm not sure if they're all up to standard, but I sure hope so; I make them so much as it is, it'd be a shame if I haven't been getting any better.

Well I really like the one you showed, so I bet all the other ones are great too. [nodnod.] How do you make them? I never made a blanket before.

Hmmm... It depends! I could make a blanket by weaving, but sometimes I just get fabric from the shop and then cut and sew them together; there's this really amazing machine that you push the button with your foot and it connects the fabric together with thread!

There's a machine that can do that? I've seen Pamela sew things before, but I didn't know machines could do it too.

Oh, that's exactly what I thought as well; where I'm from, you have to sew by hand, but there are some pretty amazing things here in Luceti I'd never dream I'd know. Have you seen a refrigerator yet??

A refrigerator? I haven't seen that yet! What is it? Does it make stuff too?

No, no, nothing like that. It's a magic sort of box that's always cold on the inside! You can put food in it and it'll keep it good for a long time, so they won't go bad...!

Oh wow, really? How does it do that? Does it have ice inside? Is it really magic??

It's all from... um, 'electricity'! It powers it from a cord!

As long as it's plugged in and the electricity works, it'll always be cold inside! The biggest part of it doesn't even have ice in it, either; it just magically stays cool!

I want to see that! It'd be especially great if it's a really hot day, you could open the door and it'll be all cool.

Maybe there's one in the house!

Oh, yes, there should be! Houses all come with them, I think!

...I should check!

Yeah! Go see if you have one; I think you'll be really impressed by it!!

I found the refrigerator, it was cold and full of food and everything!!

Ah! See, isn't it just amazing?? Electricity makes a lot of things work, like the lights all around you, or the toaster! Where I'm from, we don't actually have electricity, so it's been very strange to learn about.

It's really amazing, yeah!! There's a lot of things in this village that are amazing. I really like it!

I'm glad! Sometimes people have a hard time getting used to these things. You've been able to adjust well?

Mmhm! Everyone I've met here so far is really nice, and there's people I know who help me sometimes, so I think I'm adjusting okay so far.

They're very nice. You made them yourself?

Mm, that's right! I'm typically up all night anyway, so they tend to pile up if I sit too long on them...

[Up all night? Isn't that tiring? He thinks about asking, but it's rude to pry, especially when it's someone he's just met. So he sticks to something a bit more neutral instead.] Have you thought about setting up a shop for them?

Me? Oh, no, nothing like that! The item and clothing shops do it so much better, and after all, I already have two jobs as it is; I wouldn't want to overdo it!

Oh I see! I didn't realize you were so busy already. [...Does she sleep?]

It's true! I suppose it's a little much, isn't it? But with just one, I felt like I had so much time to spare, and since the tea shop reminded me of home, I thought it would be nice to have some hours there as well...

Keeping yourself busy isn't a bad thing. Just be careful not to overdo it, and everything will be fine.

I'll make sure not to do that. After all, overworking yourself'll just get you bedridden and miserable, wouldn't it? I'm enjoying myself too much as of late to do something like that!

Yeah, getting sick is no fun at all.

Oh, yes! I don't remember when I've been sick from something like that, but I've helped someone who caught illness here before—it seems just dreadful! I wouldn't want to have it myself, not ever.
