1st Memory [Video]

[It's midnight, but it'll take her a minute to note this. There's a drawn-out yawn, and the grunting of someone doing their usual morning stretch. And in the dark, an outline of a woman appears, in the usual Luceti New Feather garb. She touches her cheek, confused, unable to really see the book in the blue hue of night.]

That was a good rest! Ah—b-but... oh. Oh dear, did I fall asleep doing chores again? That hasn't happened in a long time... [A shiver, as she hugs herself.] It's gotten so dark... and cold, too...

[She huffs in frustration, but the nervousness is rolling off her shoulders in waves]

Kaji? Kaaaji, can you hear me?! ...Ooooh, I can't believe I wandered this far out! I don't even recognize it at all!

...Wait a moment; what am I wearing? These definitely aren't mine—

[And straight to the wings soon after; she pulls on them and immediately regrets it, wincing aloud.]

W-w-what are these strange things!? Th—

AH, they're flapping!!

[With that outburst, she promptly trips backward on her own two feet, landing her bottom right on top of her journal.]

[She stops in her walk, the nostalgic smile slowly melting away. And she puts her hands over her eyes, trying not to show why her shoulders were shaking beyond the cold.]

Yes... it's... it's very nice...

[She's quiet for a moment, and then—]

...They said we're all kidnapped and trapped here.

[he pauses in his steps, and glances back at her-- face unreadable. Then he walks back to stand next to her. He's already decided what to do about this.]

[pause-- and he cuts to the most important thing, in his level manner] Your son probably won't even know you're gone-- not even for a brief moment. Time doesn't pass in our own worlds, the way it does in this one.

No. [his tone is firm and he doesn't qualify it, the way he usually would-- even if unflinching honestly still adds the--] It's very unlikely, from everything that we know, that time is even passing there as it passes here. So he wouldn't be alone.

[She looks down, a small smile at her lips.]

...Then... I'll just work hard, until I can go back. If he's okay, then I'll be okay.

That's the spirit. [with a smile, even though there's an underlying distress that won't soon fade] Come on, we aren't far now. [the lights are indeed visible, through the trees. He's already decided to make for the clothing store, before anything]

[She stumbles along after him, looking around in the dark curiously. The lights in the distance are relieving, at least, considering how chilly it was.

And Ginko had the right thoughts, because she spoke up]

I don't suppose they have any clothes I could have—well, I prefer kimono, but... if there's not any choice, these aren't too bad.

Oi, oi-- there's certainly more to choose from than that. You'll probably find some of your own clothes there. This place has an odd way of doing that.

[as they finally ease through the outskirts of the forest, to the center of the town itself]

[Sayo finally pauses in the middle of the town and looks around.]

The buildings seem so unique and new... This isn't at all what a village of kidnapped people looked like, in my mind...

[a faint snort] It's true-- to be honest, this is an improvement to some worlds, in it's way. The housing and food-- everything is free.

[She follows, albeit drawn to the random sights around her like a kid in a toy store. Some of these things—they're just so very surprising to see. And goodness, to have all of this strange new stuff for free! It almost feels unfair to the natural way of villages. Not even a bartering?

But she leans a little, looking at Ginko's hair. Sanji was right: his hair was just as interesting as the chef's. And then she recalled what he said—]

Ginko-san, you're a mushishi, right...? A man named Sanji told me.

[A curious pause, while she scoops up the facts.]

You're the one who told me about my condition, aren't you?

Your son sent for me-- it was a few years ago, for me at least. [a pause, as he collects what he was looking for] To be honest, I'm curious to see what will happen to that mushi in this place.

I would stay anywhere that isn't outside, honestly. This place seems to have such nice homes—where ever an opening is, I guess.

[and it's probably thinking along those lines that leads him to the Strawhats, and the Strawhats to Sanji, and Sanji to.... ack] Oi, are you hungry?
