1st Memory [Video]
[It's midnight, but it'll take her a minute to note this. There's a drawn-out yawn, and the grunting of someone doing their usual morning stretch. And in the dark, an outline of a woman appears, in the usual Luceti New Feather garb. She touches her cheek, confused, unable to really see the book in the blue hue of night.]
That was a good rest! Ah—b-but... oh. Oh dear, did I fall asleep doing chores again? That hasn't happened in a long time... [A shiver, as she hugs herself.] It's gotten so dark... and cold, too...
[She huffs in frustration, but the nervousness is rolling off her shoulders in waves]
Kaji? Kaaaji, can you hear me?! ...Ooooh, I can't believe I wandered this far out! I don't even recognize it at all!
...Wait a moment; what am I wearing? These definitely aren't mine—
[And straight to the wings soon after; she pulls on them and immediately regrets it, wincing aloud.]
W-w-what are these strange things!? Th—
AH, they're flapping!!
[With that outburst, she promptly trips backward on her own two feet, landing her bottom right on top of her journal.]

Re: [ voice ]
Try walking along with the flow, if you come to a river. I'll see if I can follow it to find you.
Re: [ action ]
At least she found it! She's proud of her nature skills, man.]
Ah... hello...?
Re: [ action ]
Looks like you found your way. [a slight smile] Come on, the village is this way. [he tilts his head] You can get something warmer to wear, there. I didn't think of that...
Re: [ action ]
She was stuck... in a different world? How could she possibly believe that, though? She squints against the light, trembling faintly in the orange murk.]
Who are you...? Why am I here?
Re: [ action ]
We met once --a long time ago, Sayo-san. My name is Ginko. [a brief pause, before adding what he thinks might be significant] I met your son, Kaji, as well.
I'm afraid there's a lot to explain. [book must have been talking. Hnnn. If he saw what Ceil had to say he'd be none too pleased.] I'd rather do it out of the cold somewhere.
Re: [ action ]
[She looks down for a moment, thinking, fingers pressed to her lips in controlled worry. He was right, at least. Even if she was... in a different place, she couldn't stay out here, unless she was wanting to freeze to death.
Finally, she nods.]
I'm sorry... I forgot you, didn't I?
Re: [ action ]
It was a long time ago, anyway.
Re: [ action ]
I see—I still feel terrible for not knowing who you are... Kaji tries to refresh my memory on a lot of things, but they don't hold very well...
Re: [ action ]
-- so long as you're learning new things.
Re: [ action ]
[Aaaa, random conversation is her favorite! |D]
Re: [ action ]
Re: [ action ]
I'm very lucky, to have such a home.
Re: [ action ]
He wasn't expecting to find one of the myriad people he'd treated over time in this place-- and the sharp pang that comes with her words was just as unexpected.
He's been so disconnected... dying and coming back to strange life in this place... that a feeling of un-realness had almost settled around him. But this sudden, disjointed familiarity reminds him forcefully of the place he's been pulled out of. Its realness.
-- it's only just now that he realizes how much he'd been missing that world. And recognizes that the feeling is one he's going to be forced to share. His voice is quiet when he replies-]
It sounds beautiful.
Re: [ action ]
Yes... it's... it's very nice...
[She's quiet for a moment, and then—]
...They said we're all kidnapped and trapped here.
Re: [ action ]
-- yes. That is the truth, so far as we know.
[pause-- and he cuts to the most important thing, in his level manner] Your son probably won't even know you're gone-- not even for a brief moment. Time doesn't pass in our own worlds, the way it does in this one.
Re: [ action ]
So... He won't be alone, right? He's not alone?
Re: [ action ]
Re: [ action ]
...Then... I'll just work hard, until I can go back. If he's okay, then I'll be okay.
Re: [ action ]
That's the spirit. [with a smile, even though there's an underlying distress that won't soon fade] Come on, we aren't far now. [the lights are indeed visible, through the trees. He's already decided to make for the clothing store, before anything]
Re: [ action ]
And Ginko had the right thoughts, because she spoke up]
I don't suppose they have any clothes I could have—well, I prefer kimono, but... if there's not any choice, these aren't too bad.
Re: [ action ]
[as they finally ease through the outskirts of the forest, to the center of the town itself]
Re: [ action ]
The buildings seem so unique and new... This isn't at all what a village of kidnapped people looked like, in my mind...
[It looks so nice! |D]
Re: [ action ]
This way.
[he ducks inside the building. He has a few things to pick up himself-- and an idea.]
Re: [ action ]
But she leans a little, looking at Ginko's hair. Sanji was right: his hair was just as interesting as the chef's. And then she recalled what he said—]
Ginko-san, you're a mushishi, right...? A man named Sanji told me.
[A curious pause, while she scoops up the facts.]
You're the one who told me about my condition, aren't you?
Re: [ action ]
Your son sent for me-- it was a few years ago, for me at least. [a pause, as he collects what he was looking for] To be honest, I'm curious to see what will happen to that mushi in this place.
...There are no mushi, here.
